Our first Christmas

Merry Christmas to everyone. We took this picture last night after we went to my mom's family party. I really don't look that pregnant in this picture. But trust me...after all the movement he has been doing, I am definitely pregnant. My mom and Kevin actually saw my stomach move yesterday!!! Kevin and I had a great Christmas. We got a late wedding present from my 2 aunts. We got a hand held video camera. I am sure we will use that once the baby comes. From my parents and sister we got the bedding for the baby, lots of blankets and accessories for the nursery. We are staying at my parents tonight and then heading to Piqua tomorrow.

Hope everyone had a wonderful holiday. Merry Christmas!

what is he doing in there?

Today I feel huge. Now I know that I am not that big...yet, but I feel it today. I can feel my stomach stretching and it hurts! He is moving like crazy today. At dinner I could actually see my stomach moving...that is a first for me. I tried to have Kevin see it but he couldn't see it. (I don't think he was close enough cause it was definately moving.) After dinner, I packed to go see our families and now I am on the couch for the remainder of the night. I am exhausted today!

So tomorrow, I work from 7-9 a.m. and then the holidays begin. I am looking forward to seeing everyone!

Good weekend

Yesterday Kevin's parents came. We went to Buy Buy Baby (my new favorite baby store) so they could get us the baby's crib! Now we just have to empty out the guest room and make it a nursery! My mom and sister are coming in Feb. to help with that. Then we went to the OSU basketball game. Our original tickets were the second from the last row in the nose bleed section. It was actually kind of scary up there. I didn't know how I was going to make it through the whole game! However, about 15 minutes before the game started, the usher came around and said that since the arena was not full we could move to section 114. It was on the court right behind the basket! We were about 20 rows from the floor! It was great. Now the game wasn't all that exciting. They won, but we were talking more than watching...hehe. That was the first basketball game I had been to since I was in college myself doing the stats. To think that I went to every boys and girls basketball game from 8th grade through my senior year at westminster, its hard to believe I haven't been to a game since! It was nice to be with Doug and Linda and we really appreciate the crib! I can't wait to put it together.

Today we finished our Christmas shopping. It is nice to be done. Then we came back and wrapped everything. So other than packing, we are ready to go to our families homes for the holidays! We wll be going to my parent's house the 23rd through the morning of the 26th. Then we will be going to Piqua to be with Kevin's family the 26th through the 28th!

I have to work Monday and Tuesday and then for 2 hours on Wednesday and then I will be off for a week and a half! I am definately looking forward to that! Kevin has a week off as well. So it will be nice to be together and have some relaxing time.

As promised

21 weeks

So yesterday we went to the doctor and had our 2nd trimester ultrasound. We were able to see right away that our baby was a BOY! The doctor said everything looks great and my due date still stands. She said he has really long legs! Right now he (it seems weird to actually write him instead of it) seems to be straight up and down. His head it right under my belly button which made it difficult for her to get good pictures of him. The whole time she was doing the ultrasound he was moving like crazy. Its amazing how much he is moving. My next appointment is in 3 weeks (I moved it up a week so I could go while I am on break from work.) At that appointment they do the diabetes test. I have to drink this bottle of red liquid 1 hour before I go and then they have to draw my blood exactly one hour later. I am feeling a lot of movement especially when I get home from work and am relaxing at night. Its an amazing feeling. Kevin has been able to feel a few kicks as well. I find myself wanting to sit down and relax just so I can feel him move!!

I talked to the doctor about the BH contractions I have been having. She again confirmed that they are normal and that as long as I am not having more than 6 in an hour I am just fine! I have noticed that I am not having them as much, so that is good!

After going to the doctor we spent the day looking for cribs and furniture and registering at Babies R Us. That was a little overwhelming. There is so much stuff. But we did it! I don't think the list is complete but we definately got a good start on it.

Below are some pictures from the ultrasound and 21 week questions. Enjoy!

21 weels . . .
How far along: 21 weeks

Total weight gain: 7 lbs.

Baby's weight: about 1 lb.

Maternity clothes: YES! None of my regular paints fit any more. That means I only have 3 pairs of paints that fit!

Stretch marks: none yet

Sleep: I sleep really well for the first 3-4 hours then I am awake for the rest of the night.

Best moment of the week: Finding out we are having a boy!

Movement: Oh yes! I am feeling him daily now! Its awesome!

Food cravings: nothing really

Labor signs: nope

Belly button: in...but not by much

What I am looking forward to: Buying blue!

Milestone: I am over half way there!

Opps...I am having trouble with the pictures. I will try to add them again later!

Drum Roll Please

Just a quick post to let everyone know. . .

It's a BOY!!!!

We went to the doctor yesterday. Everything looks great! I will post more later including pictures, but right now I have to get ready for work. Yesterday was a very long, exhausting day. I feel like I need a day off from my day off!

20 weeks

Half way there! I can't believe it!!!! This past weekend I went home to see my family (Kevin unfortunately had to stay here because he had to work.) It was an eventful weekend. I saw a lot of people who have not seen me since I became pregnant. I cannot believe how many people wanted to touch my stomach!!! It seems like it is everyone's natural instinct to touch a pregnant woman's stomach! I went to my friend Krista's baby shower. It was the first time we saw each other pregnant. It was fun to be with her and celebrate this special time for her. I also got to see my other good friend Stef. We went out to dinner Saturday. This was the first time she has seen me since I am pregnant as well. It was fun to catch up with both of them. I think I am actually starting to look pregnant. I am wearing maternity clothes all the time now and people are starting to actually ask me. Different families at work are coming up to me and asking and some of them are asking the other teacher's because they don't want to ask incase I am not. I am looking forward to Wednesday when we find out the sex of our little one. It will be so nice to start saying he/she instead of "it" all the time. I am also starting to feel the baby move alot. I tend to feel it when I am sitting down or relaxing. It seems like when I am driving in the car, the baby is the most active. I wonder if that is a sign to come?

T-8 days

So its been a little while since I have posted. We were really busy with Thanksgiving and decorating for Christmas. So...let's recap a little. My family came on Wednesday to help prepare everything for Thanksgiving. It was our first time cooking a turkey and I have to say it turned out really well. On Thursday, Kevin's parents came. It was great to see everyone and spend time with them. Kevin's parents left that day but my family stayed till Saturday. We did a little shopping on Friday for the baby. Actually we didn't buy anything . . . we just looked. We found a crib that I think we like, so we will see what happens with that.

Then the rest of the weekend, we spent getting things ready for Christmas. We made 2 trips to the storage unit to get all the stuff. We put up the tree and decorated all the stair rails. We did a little shopping but still have more to go.

And the last, but most important thing is . . .8 more days till we go to the doctor!!!! And that means 8 more days till we find out if we are having a girl or a boy!!!! I am so excited, these next 8 days need to go by real fast. I can't wait till we find out so we can begin all the buying.!!!

Braxton Hicks

So today at work my coworker...who is 26 weeks pregnant, said she was having braxton hicks contractions. I asked her what they felt like and she explained. As she is telling me, I am thinking, I think I am having those. Starting on Saturday, when I relax on the couch, the lower part of my stomach will get real hard. It stays like this for up to a minute and then goes away. It has done this 2-3 times each night for the past couple of days. Me being the first time pregnant woman thought it was the baby...but nope...its braxton hicks. As I tell my friend that I am having the same feelings, I also ask her if she thought it was normal for me to be having them this early. She was not sure, so I decided to call the doctor and ask to be on the safe side. (Now mind you, the last time I called the doc to ask about cold medicine I could take because I wasn't feeling well, the nurse kinda snapped at me and told me to read the paper they provided me with from my first visit.) So I wasn't very excited about calling because I didn't want to get yelled at again. So the nurse gets on the phone and I explained my symptoms to herand she said it definitely sounded like braxton hicks and that I shouldn't be concerned unless they become consist. She also told me to mention this to my doctor at our next visit, which is in 2 weeks! Who would have guessed that at 18 weeks I would be having some sort of contrations??? Hopefully it doesn't get any worse than this for about 20 more weeks!

18 weeks 3 days

Total weight gain: 7 lbs!

Stretch marks: none

Sleep: still waking up a lot but for the most part I get enough sleep!

Clothes: a little bit of both but I am starting to move over to all maternity. I went shopping again this weeken and bought a few more things!

Best moment of the week: Getting the stroller/carseat! And. . .for the first time in my entire life, I bought a size B bra! Being pregnant is amazing!!!

Movement: I am starting to feel little movements in my lower stomach! It has to be the baby!

Food Cravings: nothing special this week

Belly button: it is getting shorter and shorter

What I miss: going up and down the stairs quickly. It seems like I am already getting out of breath easily.

What I am looking forward to: Thanksgiving and having 4 days off!

Car seat/stroller

Kevin and I spent about 2 hours at Babies R Us today looking at the strollers, car seats, cribs, etc, etc! After trying many, I think we found a car seat/stroller that we both like that is not gender specific. It is by Graco. Its the stylus travel system-ben. I think we also found a crib and changing table we like, we just have to make sure it matches the dresser we already have. We are hoping to use the existing dresser, that way we don't have to move it to storage.

In other news, I really think I am feeling the baby. Several times a day I have the same "bubble popping" feeling on my lower right side. I also went to Old Navy yesterday and bought a few more maternity shirts. They are long sleeve and some of them were only $5.99....you can't beat that. I am thinking that within the next week or so I will have to start wearing them to work because my Goddard shirts are getting a little tight and they keep riding up in the back. Hopefully once I start wearing these inside of my typical logo shirts, people will know that I am pregnant!
We are preparing for Thanksgiving around here. We went shopping today and started buying all the necessary food. We also got the card tables from the storage unit and some other important items. I am excited to cook my first thanksgiving dinner!

As promised

17 weeks
The bump is starting!

17 weeks minus 1 day

Today we went to the doctor...Kevin got to come too since he was off work. The heartbeat was 150, which is right on track. We go back December 9th and at that time we will hopefully find out if it is a girl or a boy. What a great early Christmas present!!! My blood pressure was a little high 135/82...which is normal for me but high when you are expecting. It has been about that everytime I have gone. The doctor isn't concerned right now, but she wants me to start taking it at home everyday and keeping track. She said if it ever gets to 150/90 to call immediately. She also said that if it stays high into the 3rd trimester, she might put me on something cause that may not be good. So I will begin monitoring it and keeping a close eye on it!

And now an updated survey. . .

Total weight gain: 5 pounds

Stretch marks: none

Sleep: for the most part I sleep, but I wake up about 4 times a night. No midnight bathroom trips yet!

Best moment of the week: Hearing the baby's heartbeat. Its always good to hear that and now that things are ok!

Movement: I think I might have felt a "flutter" or two but I am not positive. Hopefully I will feel more soon!

Food craving: Milk...weird...very weird

Belly button: it is definately not an innie like it used to be...but its not out completely

What I miss: Having energy. I feel like I get tired so easily!

What I am looking forward to: Finding out the sex and beginning to register!

Is it weird

So I haven't drank a glass of milk in like 15 years. I hate milk. I don't even like the smell of milk, however, on my way home from work tonight, I had a sudden craving for milk. . .chocolate milk. So I came home, fixed a large glass of chocolate milk and drank the whole thing and it was delicious. So I think that might be the start of my many cravings as a pregnant person. Its amazing how your tastes can change. That is not the only thing that is changing. My skin is as well. My face is breaking out like crazy. I feel and look like I am 13. I thought I was over that stage in my life.

My sister was here this weekend. We had a great time. We didn't do much, it was just nice to be together. Kassie thinks I have a little baby bump, so within the next couple of days I will take a picture and post it so everyone can see. We also went and got maternity clothes. I bought 4 pairs of paints and 4 shirts. I don't really need them, but they are much more comfortable. So for the next couple of weeks, I will go back and forth with the pants, depending on my mood.

We go to the doctor again Wednesday morning. I am excited to go and hear the heartbeat again. Its always good to hear that everything is ok. Kevin has the day off so he will be able to go as well.

I did it!!!!

Well I left work today at 11:30 with Mandy and we went to the Vets Memorial downtown. We got there at 12. We were probably 1 of the first 100 people in line. We had to sit outside until 1 and then they allowed us to move inside. I felt like we were in prison. There were police everywhere. One single file line, lots of yellow tape . . .it was very weird. We then sat in this huge gym like place for the next 4 hours. At 3:50 the line started moving. We had to fill out a paper stating why we were getting the shot. Then we had to have a consult with a nurse making sure it was ok for us to get it. Then we got it!!!!!!!! It was very organized and under control once the line started moving. It was just the whole sitting in line that took forever and was long. But, its over and I am glad I did it and in 7-10 days I have no chance of getting the dreaded swine flu! So thanks to everyone who crossed their fingers today....it worked!

On a side note...I have decided that whenever our children need shots, Kevin will have to take them because watching all these kids today get them was terrible. They were kicking and screaming. Their parents had to hold them down. It was crazy. I don't know if I can do that!

Monday, November 2, 2009

Cross your fingers

Tomorrow I am going to try one more time to get the H1N1 vaccine. I am going to leave work at 12 and the clinic starts at 4. Mandy and I are going to try it together. I have decided that if I don't get in this time, I am giving up. I am not spending any more of my time trying to get it. I will just wait until either my doctor has it or it is easier to get. So keep your fingers crossed. Hopefully we will get in and then I won't have to worry about it any more.

14 weeks 3 days

Total weight gain/loss: 1 pound

Stretch marks: none

Sleep: I sleep for the most part, but I normally wake up about 5 times through out the night.

Best moment of the week: getting an iPhone...this has nothing to do with the baby, but I am very happy about it and right now there isn't much going on with the babe!

Movement: none yet!

Food craving: chocolate and sometimes I see something and then I think. . .I have to have that right now!

Belly button: I feel like it is already starting to come out. Its not as "deep" as it used to be!

What I miss: Being able to have a vodka and tonic...hehe

What I am looking forward to: learning the sex of the baby and starting to get things for the baby!

Weekly wisdom: Being patient! I want to start showing. I want to know what we are having. I want to start buying things, but I need to just be patient. Everything will happen in time!

BeBands

So today I wore the beband for the first time and let me just tell you. . .I HATE IT! It would not stay up and it would not stay over my pants. It was driving me crazy all day. If I pulled it up over my stomach, I would itch. And if I pulled it down over my waist then it would show from under my shirt. I was highly annoyed. And to think I need to wear these wonderful things for the next 6 months! HELP ME!

Tuesday, October 20, 2009

Two new experiences

So today I had 2 firsts. . .

The first is we went to Target and a got a BeBand (or at least I think that is what they are called). Its a band that allows you to keep your pants unbuttoned and wear this band over top of your waist band without your pants falling off. I thought it was time since I can't button any of my work pants.

The second is I had to go to the doctor today...not my OB but my regular doctor. You see, before we went to Vegas I got a wart on my foot. I started putting those patches on it but once I got pregnant the doctor said I couldn't use them any more. So, I just let it go for a while until recently when it became more painful. So I finally decided that I needed to get it removed. I thought this was going to be a quick and easy process and it would be gone. Well it was quick and easy today however, the doctor said I would need to come back 2-3 more times before it will be gone. Which is not exactly what I wanted to hear but hopefully it will be gone soon!

Wednesday, October 14, 2009

12 weeks 6 days

I went to the doctor's today! Everything went really well. The doctor found the heartbeat right away...which I was very happy about! The heartbeat was 160. I am still not showing. I asked the doctor when I could expect to start showing and she said probably not until the 5th month. That's still 7-8 weeks away. I want for everyone to be able to see that I am pregnant! We also discussed the swine flu. She definately recommends getting the vaccine but they won't have it till next week, so I am supposed to call then. She talked to me about getting the test for down syndrome next time, which I am opting out of. That is something I don't need to know. We will love the baby no matter what and I don't need to know that ahead of time.

Anyways, in other news, our new floors got installed yesterday and I absolutely love it! It is amazing how the hardwood brightens up the room and makes it look bigger. I can't wait for the carpet to be installed next week.

Cause I had a bad day!

Today was the day from you know where for me. Work was just crazy. We had 2 people quit. We have one teacher who has the swine flu possibly ( I called my doctor and she isn't worried. She said to just let her know if I start having any symptoms and we will talk more at my apt. on Wednesday.) and to top it off I am a klutz. I was walking up the stairs to go change and I tripped on my slipper, fell and put my top teeth through my bottom lip. I landed on my hands, but boy am I sore and I have a big fat lip!!! Luckily, being that I work in a preschool, I see this sort of thing often, so I knew to go get ice and then call my mom and cry to her. I am ready for this day to be over! Here's hoping that tomorrow is a better day!

Sunday, October 11, 2009

New things

Today we are ripping up all the carpet on the first floor because on Tuesday we are getting hardwood flooring!!!! Kevin had to move the frig and the stove into the living room and then rip up the carpet so everything can be installed. My job was to supervise and clean out the frig and restock it. You can not believe how much stuff we threw away. We had things in the frig that expired in 2007! OPPS!!! All this cleaning also made me realize how disgusting the old carpet is and that it really needed to go!!! So keep your fingers crossed that everything turns out well on Tuesday. I will post pictures of the finished project!

12 weeks

I know it has been a while since my last post, but not too much has been going on. Kevin and I both had a cold these past few days so I haven't been much into typing. I think I am finally over the hump though and I am feeling better.

I broke down today and finally got a flu shot. My doctor recommended it and I have been putting it off and even debating if I wanted to get one. I decided that I needed to get it for the baby. I know it is hard to find them lately, a lot of places are already out of them. Luckily, my family doctor allowed you to walk in and get one. There were at least 10 of us there when I was there. They just went down the line, had us roll up our sleeve and gave it to us. Now my arm is really sore. :(

Ok, now onto the baby. I think I might be starting to show just a little depending on what I am wearing. It definately gets more noticeable as the day goes on. I am at the in between stage where my pants don't button but I am not really for maternity pants. I finally told my new owner that I was pregnant this week. I have been meaning to for the past couple of weeks but things just kept happening and preventing me from doing so. He took it well and seemed very happy for us. I know deep down he is thinking, "oh crap, both of my directors are pregnant what am I going to do," but he didn't say that. I didn't have to tell the rest of the staff because someone did that for me. A staff member that i swore to secrecy went and told everyone. I was pretty ticked. That was my news to tell, but oh well, what's done is done.

I go to the doctor again next Wednesday. I am excited to go and hear the heartbeat and see the progress. Stay tuned for more info.

A bunch of random things

So today I am 10 weeks and 4 days. Still not feeling too much of anything but I have to keep telling myself that I am lucky and will be thankful for this later. My new thing is I don't sleep at night. Last night I was up from 1:30 - 5. I am just wide awake. I am not worried or really thinking of anything . . .just not sleeping and that drives me crazy. I hate looking over at Kevin and seeing him sound asleep and wishing I could be too, but I am not.

Today I walked into one of the classrooms at school and one of the teachers said, "I didn't know you were expecting." I was so mad, apparently, one of the teachers that I told went around telling everyone! That was my surprise to tell everyone, not hers! So after talking to Mandy, we decided that I should go around and tell everyone but then ask them not to say anything to our owner because I need to be the one to tell him. So my plan is to talk to him either tomorrow or Wednesday! Everyone was excited! And I am glad everyone knows, but I just wanted to be the one to say it, not someone else!

In other news, Kevin and I picked out new carpet and hardwood for our living room/kitchen yesterday. The guy came today to measure everything and it could be installed as early as next week if not the week after. I am so excited. It will be so nice to have new carpet, especially when the baby gets here. We are also going to put hardwood down under the kitchen table instead of carpet. I am excited about that too, again, once the baby is here and eating at the table, which I know is a ways away, it will be so much easier to clean up hardwood instead of carpet. (cause we all know babies like to dump things!!!)

Finally, my cousin Jay is getting married on Friday to Amy!!! We are excited and are looking forward to the wedding. That also means I only have a 4 day week this week...which is awesome! The wedding is in Pittsburgh, so we will be leaving on Thursday to go to my parents and then heading to the burgh on Friday morning.

So that's about it for now. I am hoping that within a couple of weeks I can start posting belly shots for everyone. Right now there really isn't much to see! So keep your eyes peeled for that. Hope everyone has a great week!

It's Happening. . .

I am starting to gain weight!!!! To the naked eye, no I do not look pregnant, but I know I am gaining weight because none of my pants fit! I am starting to get all my fall work clothes out to wear and one by one as I put them on I cannot button them or else I have to try to suck it in and then I am extremely uncomfortable. Today Kevin and I went to Old Navy to buy me another pair of jeans because on Friday when I went to put a pair on for work, it took 6 pairs before I found one that fit and now I am having the same problem with my khakis and black pants. I am not ready for maternity pants but I am going to have to do something because I can't wear yoga pants to work!

I thought everyone might enjoy a picture of our little miracle! Happy Saturday!

It's Official

We went to the doctor today and it is official...I am pregnant. We met with the nurse and she gave us a ton of information that is totally overwhelming. Then we saw the doctor and she did an ultrasound. We got to see the baby and it was actually moving its legs while we were looking. It was so awesome!!!! The doctor said everything looks great and the due date is still April 22nd! We are so excited!

Today is the big day

At 1:00 today Kevin and I go to the doctor. I am so excited, nervous, scared, happy, etc. all in one! I am sure I will have a lot more to post later but I just wanted to let everyone know!

8 weeks

Just a quick post. . . so today I am 8 weeks along. Last week I was complaining that I didn't feel pregnant and I just wanted a sign. Well I take it back because the nausea has started and I DON'T LIKE IT!! Anyways, 6 more days till we go to the doctor. I can't wait. Katelyn and Brad are supposed to be coming this weekend. Can't wait...I could use a baby fix!

Monday, September 7, 2009

7 weeks 4 days

We just got back from a very relaxing weekend at "Happy Days" (my parent's house on the lake.) It was great to be away and have nothing to do and it was such a beautiful weekend. On Friday I started feeling blah and it continued for the rest of the weekend. I guess I finally got what I have been wanting...a sign to feel like I am really pregnant. On Sunday, we went to the Indian's game in hopes to see my cousin Matt pitch, but once again we were unsuccessful. The Twins brought in 2 relief pitchers but neither were Matt. It was a beautiful day for a baseball game and my dad parked real close to the stadium so I wouldn't have to walk far! (What a great guy!)
It was great to be with my family. Everyone is so excited they can't wait till we go to the doctor next week so they can start telling everyone else! I don't know who is more excited mom, dad or Kassie??
We are down to single digits until we go to the doctor! Hopefully the next 9 days will go quick. It sure is hard to wait!

Saturday, August 29, 2009

6 weeks 2 days

So I am supposed to be 6 weeks and 2 days today. However, I don't really feel anything. Its hard to believe there is a baby inside of me when I don't really have any symptoms. I was extremely tired the beginning of the week but now not quite as much. I wish I could go to the doctor now just to confirm everything but I guess I will just have to wait patiently. Our first appointment is 9/16. Today we are going to see Kevin's parents to tell them the good news. I am curious to see if they suspect anything or if this will come as a surprise to them. Well that is all I have for now. Have a great weekend!

First Post

Hello! Welcome to our blog. I decided to create a blog to keep everyone informed through out our pregnancy. A little backgrond for everyone. After Kevin and I got married in July, we knew we wanted kids as soon as possible so we decided to start trying. Who would have ever guessed it would work the first month. I took a pregnancy test on August 13th on my lunch break. Kevin was off work that day. He went out and bought the test while i was home and by the end of the hour we knew I was pregnant. It was so hard to go back to work after that and keep my mouth shut! I go to the doctor on September 16th (kevin's birthday!!) so hopefully we will find out more then cause right now, I know nothing and every feeling I have, I wonder if it is normal?? So thats the story. I am 5 and 1/2 weeks now and very excited! I'll keep you posted on the weeks to come!
