Jack turned 8 months yesterday. I know I say this every month, but the time sure is flying. Pretty soon we will be planning his first birthday party! He has changed so much this past month and has learned so many new tricks. He also no longer sits still for pictures. I am going to keep trying but so far, no such luck! I am sure we will get lots of pictures this coming week with Christmas.
Check out some of his stats for the month.
- I am guessing that he weighs about 19 lbs and is probably pretty close to being 29 inches long. We don't go to the doctor again until the end of January so I am not sure on the stats.
- He wears size 2 diapers
- He wears mostly 9 month clothes but still some 6 month things fit and he is beginning to wear 12 month things especially if they are one piece.
- He crawls FAST! We are having a hard time keeping up with him.
- He can pull himself up on things. Jack's philosophy is why sit when you can stand. His favorite thing is to stand in his bed so he doesn't have to take a nap!
- He is beginning to walk down the side of the couch while holding on. Occasionally he lets go but he only stands for a second.
- He now has 2 bottom teeth. They came in within a few days of each other the very beginning of December. He hates it when I try to look at them though.
- He eats 6 times a day. An 9 oz bottle at 6am when he wakes up. 3T of cereal and a fruit at 8:30 am. A vegetable and yogurt at 11:00 am. At 3:00 pm a 9 oz bottle. Dinner is at 5:30 and he has a fruit and a vegetable. Finally a 9 oz bottle at 7:30pm before bed. He likes to snack on puffs at random times. We have just started giving him a cereal bar and he likes that. We have also given him bites of other things and so far so good!
- He makes lots of noises in lots of different pitches! He says mamama and dadada but still doesn't know what they mean. I am just happy that he says both of them.
- He has really enjoyed having the train set up around the Christmas tree. He loves to watch it go around and likes to sit at the controls and "drive" it.
- He is becoming addicted to his pacifier. He needs it most of the time. He also needs his blanket to go to sleep.
We are looking forward to spending the holidays with our families. Kevin and I both have the week between Christmas and New Years off. We will be having people here and traveling as well. I can't wait to see Jack with his presents...I wonder if he will be interested in them? I hope so!

Feeling better
Well we have had quit a week here in our house. It all started the day after thanksgiving while we were driving to my parents. Kevin began to not feel so well. We chalked it up to bad food from Wendy's but after being sick for over 12 hours straight, he headed to the hospital because he was getting dehydrated. Turns out he was pretty sick. After being admitted and staying for 48 hours, he was finally sent home. I, too, got sick that night, but mine unfortunately only lasted about 24 hours. Thank goodness we were at my parents so they could take care of our little man.
After being delayed a little, we finally returned to Columbus Tuesday afternoon. We had our fingers crossed that Jack would not get sick, however, on Thursday afternoon, Jack's teachers came to me and said he had a fever. Turns out it was 102. I took him home and called the doctor. They didn't seem too concerned and told me to give him Tylenol and as long as it came down, it was probably a virus. Well it did, so we weren't too worried. By Friday night his fever was gone, or so we thought. After his nap on Saturday, we took his temperature again, to find out it was back and 102.5. We decided it was time to go to urgent care to find out what was going on. Turns out, Jack had his first ear infection and it wasn't just one ear but both. The doctor gave us a prescription and told us that it should help. Jack seems to be much better despite the fact that he absolutely hates his medicine and it takes Kevin and I all of our power to get him to take it! We also discovered that Jack now has 2 teeth! The first one came in last Friday and tonight at dinner I noticed that the other one came through. So he now has his 2 bottom front teeth!
We have been busy getting ready for Christmas. We have about half of our shopping done! We have decided to not go too crazy on presents for Jack this year. We know that being his first Christmas, everyone else will go crazy, so we have decided to go pretty simple. One thing we did buy is a train set for under our Christmas tree. Jack loves to sit by it and watch it. He also likes to be the conductor and tries to drive it. It is so cute to watch him!
A few weeks ago we had his Christmas pictures taken by the same girl that took his newborn pictures. I am so happy with them. I don't want to share too many, but I wanted to let everyone see a few. So I leave you with some of my favorite pictures...

7 months
Jack turned 7 months old on Thursday. He has learned so many new tricks this past month. We went to Children's hospital on Wednesday to have his heart murmur checked out. After being there for over 2 hours and having a lot of doctors and nurses listen to him, as well as have an echo and and EKG done, they determined that everything is fine. Yes, he does have a murmur, but it is innocent and nothing to worry about. Chances are he will outgrow it. We had his Christmas pictures taken today. I can't wait to see how they turned out. Despite Jack's runny nose and scratches on his face, Melinda seemed to get a bunch of cute pictures.
Here are some of Jack's stats:
- He weighs 18.1 lbs and is 28 inches long.
- He sleeps from about 7:45 pm to 6:00 am. Lately though he is moaning a lot in his sleep, so even though he is not awake, Kevin and I are!
- He still wears size 2 diapers.
- He wears a variety of sizes of clothes. If it is a two piece outfit, it is 6 months. If it is a one piece it is 9 or 12. He wears 9 month pajamas.
- He is crawling. He started this the beginning of the month. Every day he is getting faster and faster.
- He can pull himself up on the couch, however, he doesn't know what to do once he is up and falls very easily.
- He still does not have any teeth.
- He eats 6 times a day. An 8 oz bottle when he wakes up. Cereal and a stage 2 fruit at 8:00. At 11:00, he has a 5 oz. bottle and a vegetable. A 5 oz. bottle at 3:00 with some puffs. Dinner is at 5:30 with a fruit and a vegetable. Finally an 8 oz. bottle at bed time. For now this is working but I have a feeling it will change again soon!
- He makes lots of noises including mamama and dadada but has no idea what they mean.
- He still loves his blanket and pacifier. They are his comfort items.
- He loves things with tags but does not like the taggie blankets.
I tried really hard to take his picture, but he wasn't having it. I will keep trying. It is so much harder, now that he is on the move. Stay tuned for a sneak peek of the pictures that were taken today and I will keep trying for some official 7 month pictures!

MIA
I know it has been a while since I posted anything, but we have all been sick and typing on the computer is the last thing I have wanted to do. It all started last weekend with Kevin getting sick. Then by Sunday night, Jack had it and I really don't remember what day I started feeling yucky, but it was sometime this week. Jack ended up going to the doctor Monday morning because his eyes were stuck shut. I was sure it was pink eye, but the doctor said it was just bacteria from his cold. She gave us some drops. His eyes are better but he still has a terrible cough. Kevin and I are better, but still tired because we aren't sleeping well at night!
In other news, Jack is crawling!!! He started on Monday at school and he hasn't stopped since. He loves if you toss something across the room and then he will crawl to it. It has been so much fun watching him figure it out.
Other than that, not much else is new. Just trying to get better!
I know I never posted his Halloween pics...so here you go...enjoy!

6 month doctor's appointment

Jack went to the doctor today for his 6 month well visit. His appointment went well. he is growing like a weed and doing great! The doctor did find a slight heart murmur while listening to him today, so we are going to go for an echo at Children's in a few weeks, but she doesn't think there is anything to be concerned about. Chances are he will out grow it by the time he is a toddler but we want to be safe than sorry.
He now weighs 17 lbs 7.5 oz. (50th percentile) and 28 inches long (95th percentile) His head circumferences was 17.5 inches. Still tall and skinny but we all know the kid has no chance of being fat!
Today I put Jack down for a nap after his appointment. He was having trouble getting settled in his bed, so I went up to check on him and found him SITTING in his crib. So more thing he can do...go from a laying position to a sitting position!
Jack's Halloween party is this Friday at school. I can't wait for him to wear his dragon costume! He is going to look so cute! Of course, lots of pictures will be taken!

6 month stats

So Jack is 6 months old! Where has the time gone. We have noticed such a change in him this month. It seems like every day he learns something new. We don't go for his 6 month check up until monday, but here are some of his stats.
- He sleeps from 8 pm to 6 am on a regular basis. Sometimes a little longer which Kevin and I love!
- He is in size 2 diapers.
- He wears mostly 6 month clothes. He can still wear some 3 month shirts and is in some 9 month outfits.
- He sits on his own.
-He gets up on all 4's and rocks. If he is laying on his stomach he can spin himself around.
- He puts absolutely everything in his mouth. Socks and straps to carseats and high chairs are 2 of his favorite things to chew on.
- He plays with toys now. We recently went out and bought his some "Big Boy" toys. The stacking rings (you know the ones that every child has that are the primary colors, are his favorite.)
- He still loves his jumper. The jumper at school is nick named "Jack's Jumper" because he loves to be in it!
- We are still waiting for his first tooth to pop through.
- When holding someone hands, he can pull himself to a standing position.
- He loves his blanket and a pacifier. Doesn't matter what blanket, as long as he can snuggle with it.
- He drinks four 8 oz. bottles a day. He eats cereal and fruit for breakfast and cereal and a veggie for dinner. He loves sweet potatoes, squash, carrots, pears and apples. He is not quit sure about peas, green beans or bananas. I tried making my own baby food but he wouldn't touch it, so we are buying the store bought stuff!
- He had his first hair cut and a salon. The girl that cuts my hair, trimmed his for us! It already needs it again and its only been a few weeks.
- He makes all kinds of sounds. He laughs and smiles at everything.
- He recognizes Kevin and I. I love to look in on him through the window at school. When he sees me, he gives me the biggest grin! I sure am lucky to have him at work with me!
What a joy he is, we are so lucky he is in our lives!
