8 months

Jack turned 8 months yesterday. I know I say this every month, but the time sure is flying. Pretty soon we will be planning his first birthday party! He has changed so much this past month and has learned so many new tricks. He also no longer sits still for pictures. I am going to keep trying but so far, no such luck! I am sure we will get lots of pictures this coming week with Christmas.

Check out some of his stats for the month.

- I am guessing that he weighs about 19 lbs and is probably pretty close to being 29 inches long. We don't go to the doctor again until the end of January so I am not sure on the stats.

- He wears size 2 diapers

- He wears mostly 9 month clothes but still some 6 month things fit and he is beginning to wear 12 month things especially if they are one piece.

- He crawls FAST! We are having a hard time keeping up with him.

- He can pull himself up on things. Jack's philosophy is why sit when you can stand. His favorite thing is to stand in his bed so he doesn't have to take a nap!

- He is beginning to walk down the side of the couch while holding on. Occasionally he lets go but he only stands for a second.

- He now has 2 bottom teeth. They came in within a few days of each other the very beginning of December. He hates it when I try to look at them though.

- He eats 6 times a day. An 9 oz bottle at 6am when he wakes up. 3T of cereal and a fruit at 8:30 am. A vegetable and yogurt at 11:00 am. At 3:00 pm a 9 oz bottle. Dinner is at 5:30 and he has a fruit and a vegetable. Finally a 9 oz bottle at 7:30pm before bed. He likes to snack on puffs at random times. We have just started giving him a cereal bar and he likes that. We have also given him bites of other things and so far so good!

- He makes lots of noises in lots of different pitches! He says mamama and dadada but still doesn't know what they mean. I am just happy that he says both of them.

- He has really enjoyed having the train set up around the Christmas tree. He loves to watch it go around and likes to sit at the controls and "drive" it.

- He is becoming addicted to his pacifier. He needs it most of the time. He also needs his blanket to go to sleep.

We are looking forward to spending the holidays with our families. Kevin and I both have the week between Christmas and New Years off. We will be having people here and traveling as well. I can't wait to see Jack with his presents...I wonder if he will be interested in them? I hope so!

Our Christmas gift

We have been busy the past few weekends getting ready for Christmas. We now have all but one gift. But no matter what anyone gives us...this is our best gift this year. Our little guy! We are so lucky to have him. He brings such joy to our lives. I can't wait to watch him "open" gifts on Christmas. Christmas is so much more fun when kids are involved.

Feeling better

Well we have had quit a week here in our house. It all started the day after thanksgiving while we were driving to my parents. Kevin began to not feel so well. We chalked it up to bad food from Wendy's but after being sick for over 12 hours straight, he headed to the hospital because he was getting dehydrated. Turns out he was pretty sick. After being admitted and staying for 48 hours, he was finally sent home. I, too, got sick that night, but mine unfortunately only lasted about 24 hours. Thank goodness we were at my parents so they could take care of our little man.

After being delayed a little, we finally returned to Columbus Tuesday afternoon. We had our fingers crossed that Jack would not get sick, however, on Thursday afternoon, Jack's teachers came to me and said he had a fever. Turns out it was 102. I took him home and called the doctor. They didn't seem too concerned and told me to give him Tylenol and as long as it came down, it was probably a virus. Well it did, so we weren't too worried. By Friday night his fever was gone, or so we thought. After his nap on Saturday, we took his temperature again, to find out it was back and 102.5. We decided it was time to go to urgent care to find out what was going on. Turns out, Jack had his first ear infection and it wasn't just one ear but both. The doctor gave us a prescription and told us that it should help. Jack seems to be much better despite the fact that he absolutely hates his medicine and it takes Kevin and I all of our power to get him to take it! We also discovered that Jack now has 2 teeth! The first one came in last Friday and tonight at dinner I noticed that the other one came through. So he now has his 2 bottom front teeth!

We have been busy getting ready for Christmas. We have about half of our shopping done! We have decided to not go too crazy on presents for Jack this year. We know that being his first Christmas, everyone else will go crazy, so we have decided to go pretty simple. One thing we did buy is a train set for under our Christmas tree. Jack loves to sit by it and watch it. He also likes to be the conductor and tries to drive it. It is so cute to watch him!

A few weeks ago we had his Christmas pictures taken by the same girl that took his newborn pictures. I am so happy with them. I don't want to share too many, but I wanted to let everyone see a few. So I leave you with some of my favorite pictures...

7 months

Jack turned 7 months old on Thursday. He has learned so many new tricks this past month. We went to Children's hospital on Wednesday to have his heart murmur checked out. After being there for over 2 hours and having a lot of doctors and nurses listen to him, as well as have an echo and and EKG done, they determined that everything is fine. Yes, he does have a murmur, but it is innocent and nothing to worry about. Chances are he will outgrow it. We had his Christmas pictures taken today. I can't wait to see how they turned out. Despite Jack's runny nose and scratches on his face, Melinda seemed to get a bunch of cute pictures.

Here are some of Jack's stats:

- He weighs 18.1 lbs and is 28 inches long.

- He sleeps from about 7:45 pm to 6:00 am. Lately though he is moaning a lot in his sleep, so even though he is not awake, Kevin and I are!

- He still wears size 2 diapers.

- He wears a variety of sizes of clothes. If it is a two piece outfit, it is 6 months. If it is a one piece it is 9 or 12. He wears 9 month pajamas.

- He is crawling. He started this the beginning of the month. Every day he is getting faster and faster.

- He can pull himself up on the couch, however, he doesn't know what to do once he is up and falls very easily.

- He still does not have any teeth.

- He eats 6 times a day. An 8 oz bottle when he wakes up. Cereal and a stage 2 fruit at 8:00. At 11:00, he has a 5 oz. bottle and a vegetable. A 5 oz. bottle at 3:00 with some puffs. Dinner is at 5:30 with a fruit and a vegetable. Finally an 8 oz. bottle at bed time. For now this is working but I have a feeling it will change again soon!

- He makes lots of noises including mamama and dadada but has no idea what they mean.

- He still loves his blanket and pacifier. They are his comfort items.

- He loves things with tags but does not like the taggie blankets.

I tried really hard to take his picture, but he wasn't having it. I will keep trying. It is so much harder, now that he is on the move. Stay tuned for a sneak peek of the pictures that were taken today and I will keep trying for some official 7 month pictures!

MIA

I know it has been a while since I posted anything, but we have all been sick and typing on the computer is the last thing I have wanted to do. It all started last weekend with Kevin getting sick. Then by Sunday night, Jack had it and I really don't remember what day I started feeling yucky, but it was sometime this week. Jack ended up going to the doctor Monday morning because his eyes were stuck shut. I was sure it was pink eye, but the doctor said it was just bacteria from his cold. She gave us some drops. His eyes are better but he still has a terrible cough. Kevin and I are better, but still tired because we aren't sleeping well at night!

In other news, Jack is crawling!!! He started on Monday at school and he hasn't stopped since. He loves if you toss something across the room and then he will crawl to it. It has been so much fun watching him figure it out.

Other than that, not much else is new. Just trying to get better!

I know I never posted his Halloween pics...so here you go...enjoy!

6 month doctor's appointment

Jack went to the doctor today for his 6 month well visit. His appointment went well. he is growing like a weed and doing great! The doctor did find a slight heart murmur while listening to him today, so we are going to go for an echo at Children's in a few weeks, but she doesn't think there is anything to be concerned about. Chances are he will out grow it by the time he is a toddler but we want to be safe than sorry.

He now weighs 17 lbs 7.5 oz. (50th percentile) and 28 inches long (95th percentile) His head circumferences was 17.5 inches. Still tall and skinny but we all know the kid has no chance of being fat!

Today I put Jack down for a nap after his appointment. He was having trouble getting settled in his bed, so I went up to check on him and found him SITTING in his crib. So more thing he can do...go from a laying position to a sitting position!

Jack's Halloween party is this Friday at school. I can't wait for him to wear his dragon costume! He is going to look so cute! Of course, lots of pictures will be taken!

6 month stats

So Jack is 6 months old! Where has the time gone. We have noticed such a change in him this month. It seems like every day he learns something new. We don't go for his 6 month check up until monday, but here are some of his stats.

- He sleeps from 8 pm to 6 am on a regular basis. Sometimes a little longer which Kevin and I love!

- He is in size 2 diapers.

- He wears mostly 6 month clothes. He can still wear some 3 month shirts and is in some 9 month outfits.

- He sits on his own.

-He gets up on all 4's and rocks. If he is laying on his stomach he can spin himself around.

- He puts absolutely everything in his mouth. Socks and straps to carseats and high chairs are 2 of his favorite things to chew on.

- He plays with toys now. We recently went out and bought his some "Big Boy" toys. The stacking rings (you know the ones that every child has that are the primary colors, are his favorite.)

- He still loves his jumper. The jumper at school is nick named "Jack's Jumper" because he loves to be in it!

- We are still waiting for his first tooth to pop through.

- When holding someone hands, he can pull himself to a standing position.

- He loves his blanket and a pacifier. Doesn't matter what blanket, as long as he can snuggle with it.

- He drinks four 8 oz. bottles a day. He eats cereal and fruit for breakfast and cereal and a veggie for dinner. He loves sweet potatoes, squash, carrots, pears and apples. He is not quit sure about peas, green beans or bananas. I tried making my own baby food but he wouldn't touch it, so we are buying the store bought stuff!

- He had his first hair cut and a salon. The girl that cuts my hair, trimmed his for us! It already needs it again and its only been a few weeks.

- He makes all kinds of sounds. He laughs and smiles at everything.

- He recognizes Kevin and I. I love to look in on him through the window at school. When he sees me, he gives me the biggest grin! I sure am lucky to have him at work with me!

What a joy he is, we are so lucky he is in our lives!

School Pictures

A few weeks ago Jack had his pictures taken at school. He did a really good job and we actually got a good picture of him smiling. He also had his picture taken with his class at school. Both of these pictures turned out really well so I wanted to share. Enjoy!

Jack is sitting next to Olivia. This is my friend Mandy's little girl! We like to say that they are boyfriend and girlfriend!

It's been a while

We have been so busy lately, that I haven't posted as often as I would like. Teaching kindergarten and doing my job is wearing me out. Only 5 more weeks though. While I enjoy teaching it is hard to do 2 jobs at once and be a mommy. I come home exhausted at night. I think I have been in bed by 8:30 every night these past few weeks.

But enough about me. The most important thing is our little man. Jack is growing and changing so much. It's hard to believe he will be six months old tomorrow. He is sitting up now. He interacts with us so much, we just love having him in our lives. I will post all his 6 month updates tomorrow...once he is officially 6 months old.

Here are some recent pictures of him so you can see how much he is changing!

Jack's first taste of pears...you wouldn't think from the picture that he likes them...but he really does! However, peas and green beans still make him gag!

Busy weekend

We had a jam packed weekend. We started off by taking Jack to get his first REAL haircut on Saturday . I called Rhea, the girl who cuts my hair, to see if she would mind trimming Jack's before my haircut. She was happy to and Jack did great. He moved around a lot but he was smiling the whole time.

Then after everyone got their hair cut, we were off to Piqua for the rest of the weekend. We were hoping to take Jack and cousin Katelyn to a pumpkin patch, however, the weather was not quite pumpkin picking weather. It was very cold and rainy, so we went to a green house instead and had the kids get their pumpkins cause lets face it, all I really cared about was getting a cute picture of Jack next to some pumpkins and that we got!

Jack had fun with his cousin Katelyn as well as the rest of Kevin's family! When we got home today, we discovered that Jack had a limited supply of cold weather clothes and since it was 50 degrees and windy today we decided we needed to go get some for him. I thought that 6 month clothes would be perfect for him, but it turns out that if the clothes are one piece, 6 months are too short. (Like I have said before, he is going to be tall and skinny like his daddy!) So we headed over to Kohls and got 5 new outfits for him. (I had a 30% off coupon...can't beat that!) Hopefully that will last him for a little while at least!

So now its the end of the weekend...unfortunately. Time to start another week of work and another week of teaching kindergarten (only 7 more to go...but who's counting!) We are looking forward to next weekend...Brian and Betsy's wedding!

Sweet potatoes

So after trying peas for the past 5 days, I finally gave up! Jack has gagged, spit and not swallowed one bite of peas! Tonight I gave Jack sweet potatoes and he LOVED them! He swallowed them and kept opening his mouth for more! And he didn't make any weird faces. What a relief. I am glad he likes them and I can't wait to feed him more!

More Pictures

Thought everyone would enjoy a few more pictures of our little guy. We were very busy taking lots of pictures yesterday! Enjoy!

Peas Please!

Jack tried peas for the first time today and it didn't go too bad. He made a few funny faces but for the most part ate what I gave him. Kevin and I have decided to make his food. So today I began my journey in baby food making. I started by putting the peas in the food processor and then mashing them through a strainer in order to get them nice and smooth. I then put it in ice cube trays and stuck it in the freezer, that way we have some for the rest of the week. So this week he will eat peas...I am thinking next weekend we will try either carrots or sweet potatoes. I don't know if I will always be able to make his food but for the time being I am going to try.

5 months old

Jack is five months old today! What a big boy he is. I love the little grin on his face. This is how he is most of the time now. He is a pretty happy go lucky kid. He is such a joy to be around. This past month he has made great strides...check out his stats below.

- He unofficially weighs close to 16 lbs. We don't go to the doctor this month, but that is what I am guessing and he has to be over 27 inches long. He is a tall thin little guy!

- He drinks 7 oz of formula 4 times a day.

- He eats 2 T. of rice cereal 2 times a day.

- He just started eating peas today! He is not a huge fan of them yet, but he ate them!

- He still sleeps from about 8 - 5:30 every night and goes back to sleep on the days daddy can take him to school.

- He rolls all over the place. We put him on the play mat on the floor and the next thing we know he is in the middle of the living room.

- He enjoys sleeping on his stomach with his butt in the air! (Its too cute!)

- He loves holding you hands and standing...or should I say bouncing! This kid was born to bounce and does it all day long.

- From a sitting position can pull himself up to a standing position while holding some one's hands.

- He is working on being able to sit up...but definitely hasn't mastered that yet!

- He is constantly giggling. If we giggle or laugh at him, he tries to imitate us!
- He recoginizes Kevin and I and turns his head towards us when we call him name.

- He is in size 2 diapers.

- He wears 6 month pajamas. 3-6 month shirts and 3 month pants and shorts. He is just starting to wear some 6 month shirts!

- He is drooling like crazy and is constantly putting things in his mouth...especially his toes! (He thinks they are the coolest things. As soon as his socks come off...his toes go in his mouth!)

- He has had a second hair cut, although he is loosing a lot of hair on the sides.

- He loves playing in his jumperoo and exersaucer

Baptism

Jack was baptized today at my parent's church in Boardman. It was so nice to be surrounded by friends and family. Jack did great he. He smiled through the whole thing and when pastor lifted him up to show him off to everyone, Jack turned around and watched him very intently and then grabbed a hold of his nose! It was great! We are so proud of our little guy and so blessed to have him in our lives. It was a very busy weekend but great to be with everyone. Lots of pictures were taken, but most of them on other people's cameras, so here is what we have on ours.

Cousins!

I'll post more pictures once we get them. Plus, Jack will be 5 months this coming Saturday...so more pictures will be taken then!

Weekend Update

First of all...our baby is 19 weeks old! Where has the time gone. Summer is almost over and our little guy is growing like a weed. He learns something new every day. Today he learned how to make a spitting sound. He makes a pretty funny face when he does it as well. It is too cute! He actually jumps in his jumperoo instead of just moving his feet from side to side. He is eating his cereal better too. He is actually opening his mouth and most of it is actually staying in his mouth. Kevin also trimmed his hair again tonight. 19 weeks old and already 2 hair cuts!

This weekend was one of the first weekends in a long time that we weren't traveling. It was so nice to be home, just the 3 of us! We did lots of shopping. Jack went to the mall for the first time. We bought an outfit for his baptism. Kevin refuses to have him wear the "white clown outfit" (as he calls it) so we bought, a long sleeve button down shirt and khaki pants. He is going to look so grown up! We also bought him a little buckeye outfit, only had to return it today because it is way too big and that was the smallest size they had. So we will have to keep looking for something for him to wear on game days!

We went to Easton today and walked around for a little. They have added so many new stores since the last time we have been there (which was before Jack was born.) Jack enjoyed walking around and looking at everything. I can't wait till next summer when he can go play in the fountains. With the way he loves water, I am sure he will enjoy that!

Our little guy being his silly self!

4 month stats

Today Jack went to the doctor for his 4 month well visit. He did very well and the doctor thought he was right were he should be. We told her how we already started cereal with him, and she thought that was good. She suggested that we try it once a day for a few weeks and then go to two feedings. Once he has masted cereal we can then start introducing veggies. I am excited for him to try some things that actually have a little flavor to them. We will have to see how he likes them?! He got two shots again today and had to drink something as well. She had to keep squeezing his mouth shut while doing the drink cause he kept trying to spit it all out, but she finally got it all in! He took the shots pretty well. He only cried for about 30 seconds after them and then daddy started playing with him and he was all smiles. We asked about his skin and how it seems to be dry. She didn't seem too concerned and told us we could try a different kind of soap if we wanted. So overall it was a good visit and we don't have to go back until he is 6 months old.

Now onto his stats:
- 14 lbs. 14.5 ounces (50th percentile)
- 26 1/2 inches long (95th percentile)
(basically he is going to be tall and skinny like his daddy!)
- drinks 6 1/2 ounces of formula 5 times a day
- sleeps from 8:30 pm till 5:30 am on a regular basis and if he is able to, goes back to sleep till about 7ish.
- rolls both ways. We have found him a few times in the middle of the night on his tummy and he isn't very happy about it.
- He smiles all the time
- He giggles and laughs out loud
- He is still in size one diapers but once we are done with the ones we have, he is moving to size 2 - He still loves to lay on his mat and kick his feet.
- He likes to play in his jumperoo and exersaucer
- He wears 3 month clothes in Carters, however some are getting small. He mostly wears 0-3 in everything else with a few 3-6.
- He loves to have his hands in his mouth. So far he doesn't show preference towards a certain hand or finger, just as long as they are in his mouth.
- He has found his voice and likes to talk ALOT!
- Although we trimmed his hair a little when he was 15 weeks old, now he is starting to lose it. It is getting really thin on the sides but he still has a lot on the top. The back part is starting to lay down though.
- He has started to eat 1 tablespoon of cereal one time a day.
- He is able to grasp at toys and hold on to them
- He knows his mommy and daddy and smiles at us when we walk into a room

What a joy he is! We love having him in our lives!

4 months

Jack turned 4 months old today. Another month has quickly gone by and Kevin and I are watching a baby turn into a little guy! He is so much fun! His new favorite thing is to put everything in his mouth. He is constantly sucking on his hands and trying to put his toys, shirt and bib in his mouth. He is making lots of noises and giggles ALOT! He enjoys being in the jumperoo and exersaucer and can put wieght on his legs when you hold him in a standing position. He is also able to roll both ways. The biggest thing is he is consistantly sleeping through the night. Jack goes to bed around 8:30 and sleeps till 5 or 5:30. Kevin then feeds him and he goes back to sleep until 7ish.

We have enjoyed some fun things this past month as well. We went to my family reunion the beginning of the month. Jack got to meet a lot of new family members. It was fun to watch him interact with everyone. Last weekend we went to the Miami county fair with Kevin's family. What a great experience. It was so much fun watching Jack look at all the animals. Jack also experienced his first virus this week. On Tuesday he was sent home from school with a little fever. After going to the doctors, she determined it was just a virus. As soon as it started, it was over though. By 6 pm on Tuesay, the fever was gone and he was much happier. He has his 4 month appointment on Monday, so I will update all his stats then!

Cereal

With Jack turning 4 months old on Wednesday, we decided it was time for him to start cereal. So last night he tried it for the first time. At first he seemed to like it and then after about 3 bites, he had enough and didn't want much more. It was a cycle of me putting it in his mouth and him spitting it back out at me! We will keep trying though. He goes to the doctor next Monday, so we will talk to her about it then. Of course, we caught it all on camera...check it out!

We are on a roll

Jack has made some big strides in the past week or so. He is on a roll. He can now roll from tummy to back and back to tummy. He doesn't do it all the time, but he can when he wants to! He is beginning to enjoy tummy time a little more and he is able to pick his head up while laying on his tummy. He has also found his toes. He hasn't stuck them in his mouth yet...but he knows they are there. Although he has known for a while that he has hands, up until recently he hasn't done much with them. Now they are by his face and in his mouth ALL THE TIME! He is constantly sucking his thumb or fingers. He is trying to stick his whole fist in his mouth, but hasn't been successful with that yet. He also enjoys just looking at his fingers and watching them move. Jack is also learning that he a voice. He likes to talk to himself and us, especially when he is in his carseat. I love listening to him and can't wait till the day when I can actually understand what he is trying to say. We have also noticecd that in the past few days, he is starting to reach for things and hold onto them. Finally, he is able to sit in his exersaucer unassisted. He is growing and changing so much...what happened to my little baby?? Oh....and did I mention that he had to get his first hair cut. We had to cut his bangs and side burns a little. What 15 week old needs that?

In other news, I took Jack to the doctors last Wednesday, just to make sure everything was ok. He has had a stuffy nose for a little while now and he wasn't drinking his bottles very well. I was being a perinoid mom and just wanted to make sure he was ok before we left for the weekend. Turns out...he was just fine. The doctor looked at me like I was crazy, but I got the peace of mind of knowing everything was ok. I did find out that he is now 13 lbs 13 ounces! (That is one good thing about going to the doctors...hehe)

We had a great weekend with my family. It was a jammed packed weekend but fun to be with everyone. Kevin and I got to go the Indian's game to see my cousin pitch. I have gone to about 4 or 5 games in hopes of seeing him, however, he has never pitched while I was there. So this was a first and we were in the front row!!! It was awesome. Too bad he wasn't able to pull out a win for the Twins. Jack had a great time. He was much better than we had expected. He went with the flow and enjoyed meeting lots of family! We had a great weekend but it is nice to be back home, however, we are down a family member. Stubbs has left us. After much thought and consideration, we decided to give Stubbs back to the guy I got him from originally 4 years ago. We didn't feel like we were being fair to him now that Jack is here. Its a little quieter around here, but we think it was for the best!

Update

Well its been a little while since I wrote, so I just wanted to let everyone know what is going on in the world of Jack. He is such a joy and Kevin and I are having so much fun with him. He smiles and laughs all the time. We have recently tried putting him in his exersaucer and he seems to like it. He hits some of the buttons to make them light up or make noise. He does't realize that he is the one doing it but he smiles at the lights. He also sat in the exersaucer at school today for the first time and they said he liked it too!

His favorite thing to do still is lay on his back and kick his feet. Often when he is fussy, if we lay him on his activity mat he calms down faster than if we hold him. He hasn't been rolling over as much but he loves to lay on his side!

He loves school!!!! He takes better naps there then he does at home. He loves their swing and the bouncy seat! He is making friends...hehe and generally seems very happy to be there. Last week the petting zoo came and he got to "pet" a baby chick! How cute is that?? He loves going outside and taking walks in the big stroller!

He is eating 5-6 ounces every 4 hours. Sometimes he takes his bottle pretty easy, others it is a struggle. We are still trying to figure out why?

He is almost sleeping through the night. He goes down for bed around 8:30 and then sleeps till sometime between 3 and 5. We feed him at that point and he sleeps till 7 when it is time to get up for school. So we can't complain....he is doing pretty well. He is a wild man in his sleep though. Most mornings when we go in, he is upside down in his crib.

We are looking forward to next weekend. We are going to Boardman for my family reunion. Kevin and I get to go to the Indians game on Friday...my mom and sis are watching Jack. We are going in a bus with my family to watch my cousin play. Then saturday we are going out to dinner with everyone and Jack is having his first nonrelative babysitter. (Thank you Alyson!) Sunday is church and a picnic and then it will be back to columbus.

3 months old

Jack is 3 months old. He is growing up and changing right before our eyes! He has made lots of accomplishments over the past month. One big thing for him is that he started "school." I went back to work on July 6th and he came with me. Right now he is the youngest kid in the whole school. He is doing really well. Kevin and I are getting our routine down and Jack is enjoying his class. He has made some "friends" and he seems to like his teacher Ms. Diane.
Here are some of his stats for this month.
He is about 13 1/2 lbs. and about 24 inches tall. He doesn't go to the doctor this month, so I don't know the exact stats.
He drinks 5 oz. of formula every 3 1/2 to 4 hours.
He goes to bed at 8 or 8:30 and can sleep till about 4 or 5 am. Sometimes he wakes up earlier but then will go back to sleep until we wake him for school.
He smiles and laughs, especially at Kevin. He seems to respond to Kevin's voice the most!
He loves to lay on his play mat and roll to his side. He can even roll from his tummy to his back! He enjoys listening to music and kicking his feet to the beat.
He is still in size one diapers.
He wears Carter's 3 month clothes and 0-3 months in everything else. He has worn a few 3-6 month things too.
He loves sucking on his hands and makes rather loud noises while doing so.
He enjoys sitting in his high chair while we are eating. He likes to be apart of the action.
His hair is out of control. It sticks straight up in the back all the time. As soon as it dries it pops up and nothing will keep it down. We are trying to decide when he will need his first hair cut.
We have successfully gone out to dinner a few times with him now. He tends to fall asleep while we are there, which makes it nice for us!

What a week!

These are pictures we took on the 4th of July.

My first week back to work has been very eventful. My first day back, Tuesday, I had a meeting from 7-9, that was also the night Kevin took Jack to urgent care to make sure he only had a cold. On Wednesday, we had our inspection from the state. This is always very stressful because they look at EVERYTHING in the school. However, we did really well and only missed one point because we didn't have a piece of paper with the child ratios on it in one of the classrooms. Needless to say, we were very happy! Thursday was pretty uneventful however, in the middle of the night, when I woke up to feed Jack I discovered that his room was 79 degrees. Upon further inspection we determined that the air conditioning unit outside was not running and HOT air was blowing in the house. We quickly turned it off and decided we had to call someone in the morning. A guy came out Friday evening to fix it, only to tell us that the part store was closed and he wouldn't be able to get the part till Saturday morning. Luckily, Kevin's parents didn't mind having company for the night, because we packed everything up and went to Piqua for the evening. (It was way to hot to sleep here!) The air was fixed yesterday afternoon and we are all cool as cucumbers now!

Jack still has a cold but he is very happy! Yesterday evening he was so happy. He was full of smiles for us! He is constantly rolling from his back to stomach. Sometimes he will stay there for a while and others he gets pretty mad and wants turned over immediately. At night he prefers to sleep on his side and when we go to get him in the morning, he is normally upside down in his crib. Kevin and I think he has grown up a lot in the past few weeks. He is able to entertain himself for a little while now, which allows us to get somethings done. He is much happier. We are enjoying him so much and love all the new things he is doing. His smiles just melt our hearts.

Helping daddy

Tonight Kevin put Jack's highchair together. It is a chair that sits on one of our kitchen chairs and can be used for infants because it reclines a little. Jack likes to be next to us while we are eating, so we thought he might enjoy sitting in it while we eat. We tried it tonight and he liked it!

In other news, Jack survived his second full day at Goddard! However, yesterday was a little rough. He developed a cold on Monday and he wasn't very happy yesterday. It seemed like he hada little stuffy nose and cough but we didn't know if it was more than that, so, Kevin took him to urgent care last night (I unfortunately had a meeting and couldn't go). We wanted to make sure he didn't have an ear infection or anything worse. Turns out, its just a cold and the doctor said hopefully it will go away in a few days. We were relieved and can already see a difference today! He was much happier and took 2 good naps today at school! I am so lucky I can take him with me to work! I love being able to go in and see him from time to time! It definately helps me get through the day!

Jack's Accomplishments

Over the past week Jack has accomplished a lot of things. First off, he started going to school. I worked 2 half days last week and he went with me. He did really well! I think I had a harder time adjusting than he did. Tomorrow is our first full day back and I am NOT looking forward to it!

Jack has also learned to put himself to sleep. Several times now we have put him in his cribs and within a few minutes he is out! It is great, however, I still enjoy rocking him to sleep at night! I don't want my baby to grow up to fast. He now enjoys rolling to his side. He seems to like to sleep on his side as well. This morning when Kevin went into his room, he was completely upside down in his crib. He has figured out how to turn himself around!

Finally, he has learned how to roll from back to stomach! My mom and sister witnessed it first and then Kevin and I came running to see him do it again and he has now done it another 3-4 times since! It is so cute and he tries so hard to get his arm out from underneath himself.

He is becoming such a big boy! We are so proud of him.

We took some family photos today as well in our red, white and blue. As soon as they are uploaded, I will post them.

Happy 4th everyone!

Sleep Over

Last night we had the opportunity to watch our niece Katelyn. We had so much fun having her here. She did a great job with Jack and we were even able to get a few cute pictures of them together. This is the first time we were able to get them to get a picture together!

Jack's 2 month stats

Jack went to the doctor's yesterday. He smiled through the whole thing until he got his shots. Then he screamed for about 2 minutes and then it was back to smiles! The doctor thought he looked great. He now weighs 12 lbs 4.5 oz and is 24 inches long. That puts him in the 75 percentile for weight and 90 percentile for height. He is good to go until he is 4 months old! Below are pictures from when we went to our childbirth class reunion a few weeks ago. I keep forgetting to post them. We had a great time and Jack was one of the best behaved babies there! He slept through most of the party! The babies in the pictures were all born within 18 days of each other. Jack is the third oldest and of course he had the most hair!!
